Icy conditions on Wednesday morning have caused several accidents on Connecticut’s major highways, disrupting the morning commute.

A tractor-trailer crash on I-84 East in Southington, around 4 a.m., closed the highway between Exits 32 and 33. The left and center lanes are still closed, and it is congested between Exits 31 and 33.

Another tractor-trailer crash on the Exit 30 off-ramp of I-84 East in Southington, around 8:30 a.m., has closed the exit and left lane.

Both directions of Connecticut Route 39 are closed at Candlewood Knolls Road in New Fairfield because of a crash where a dump truck hit a pole around 7 a.m.

Around 1:30 a.m., a tractor-trailer on I-84 West in Manchester struck a car in the HOV lane and broke through the barrier of the overpass, which was about 50 feet above the ground, the Manchester Fire Department said in a Facebook post.

One person was injured in that crash and transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A second person refused medical treatment. The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection was on the scene for a “significant oil spill,” firefighters said.

The HOV lane on I-84 West in Manchester is still closed due to emergency road work and bridge maintenance from the accident that began around 5:30 a.m. The vehicles have been removed.

Earlier this morning, multiple crashes closed roads and highways that have since reopened.

The left lane of Route 796 North in Milford was closed near Exit 3A because of a crash involving two cars that happened around 8 a.m.

At about 6 a.m., I-84 East was closed at the Exit 52 off-ramp because of a crash.

A state police cruiser was stuck on Route 15 North between the end of the highway and Exit 91 around 5 a.m. This closed the highway, and no injuries were reported.

Route 8 North in Bridgeport was closed between Exits 2B and 3 because of a two-car crash around 5 a.m.

A multi-vehicle crash on I-95 North between Exits 48 and 50 in New Haven closed the left and right lanes around 5 a.m.

Around 4:30 a.m., 1-91 South was closed between Exits 30 and 29A because of a multi-vehicle crash involving eight cars and a jackknifed tractor-trailer.

A jackknifed tractor-trailer closed the right lane of I-84 East between Exits 13 and 14 in Southbury around 4 a.m.

A crash involving one vehicle on I-84 East in Plainville closed the left lane between Exits 30 and 29A around 3:30 a.m.

Another jackknifed tractor-trailer on Route 9 North between Exits 31 and 32 in Berlin closed the right lane of the road around midnight.
