Eight newborn kittens were found in a Target shopping bag in Seymour over the weekend, according to Woodbridge Regional Animal Control.
A Seymour resident found the kittens on the side of Moss Avenue around 2 p.m. on Saturday.
The kittens still had their umbilical cords attached and were nearly frozen to death, according to animal control.
They were taken to Whiskers Pet Rescue in Southbury where they are still receiving care.
The kittens cannot be adopted until they are at least 9-10 weeks old, according to Desmond’s Army, a nonproft animal law advocacy group.
Desmond’s Army is offering a $5,000 reward for information that may help identify those responsible. Anyone with information is also encouraged to call Woodbridge Regional Animal Control at 203-389-5991.
