
Three people were taken to the hospital and multiple dogs died after a house fire in East Hartford on Sunday morning.
Firefighters were called to a home on Whiting Road around 1:15 a.m. for a report of a structure fire.
When crews arrived, they said they found a single-family home with heavy fire on the second floor.
According to the fire department, one person suffered burns and was transported to a local hospital. Two additional people were later brought to the hospital to be treated for injuries related to the fire.
Investigators said several dogs died from smoke inhalation. A few other dogs were able to be rescued.
The fire is under investigation by the East Hartford Fire Marshal’s Office.
