2 suspects charged with murder in connection with fatal 2023 shooting: New Haven police
New Haven officials have arrested two men in connection with a fatal shooting from 2023.
On March 15, 2023, New Haven officers were called to the area of Dixwell Avenue and West Hazel Street on multiple reports that a man had been shot.
When first responders arrived at the scene, they found 25-year-old Ramon Yates, a city resident. Yates was rushed to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he died from his injuries two days later.
New Haven Det. Michael Haines and the Major Crimes Unit worked over the years and developed probable cause to arrest two people, officials said.
Police charged 20-year-old Talin Jackson and 19-year-old Devin Gardner, both of New Haven, with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and carrying a pistol without a permit. Both of their bonds have been set at $2 million.
New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker and Police Chief David Zannelli are expected to provide additional updates on Wednesday, officials said.
