2 people stabbed during fight in Norwalk, suspect charged
Two people were stabbed during a fight in Norwalk over the weekend and police have arrested a suspect.
Officers responded to Ely Avenue and Lowe Street around 6:15 a.m. on Sunday for a report of a fight involving about 10-15 people. When police arrived to the area, they said they did not find an active fight and began interviewing witnesses and bystanders.
During the investigation, a 35-year-old man from Norwalk was arrested for breach of peace and interfering with an officer. He was transported to Norwalk Police Department headquarters.
About an hour later, officers were called to Norwalk Hospital for a report of an assault. Investigators said two people had gone to the hospital after sustaining knife wounds during a fight. One person reportedly suffered a facial laceration while the other sustained a laceration to their chest.
According to police, it was determined that the two people in the hospital had been stabbed during the fight on Ely Avenue. Authorities said it was also later determined that the 35-year-old man from Norwalk who had been arrested was responsible for the stabbings. He was additionally charged with two counts of assault and carrying a dangerous weapon. He is due in court on September 1.
