2 cats remain missing after flames rip through Manchester home

Two cats remain missing after flames ripped through a home in Manchester early Saturday morning and the house has since been deemed uninhabitable.

Firefighters responded to Delmont Street around 1 a.m. for a structure fire.

Once crews arrived, they said they found a single-family home with heavy fire showing. The flames were brought under control within 30 minutes.

According to fire officials, two occupants and one cat were able to escape before fire crews arrived, however, two additional cats remain missing.

The damage to the home is described as significant and it is currently uninhabitable. The Red Cross is helping the occupants.

Fire officials said firefighting efforts were complicated by the heat and also by live power lines that fell across the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
