One person died in a house fire in Stamford on Friday.
Firefighters responded to the home on Woodmere Road around 4:20 a.m. and found heavy fire on the first floor. They also learned that someone was still inside the house, according to fire officials.
The fire was knocked down in about nine minutes and crews then found the male victim inside.
Three others were able to get out of the house before firefighters arrived. Two of them were taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries they suffered while trying to rescue the other victim, fire officials said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
