Middlesex County’s Fourth of July parade has been postponed due to the extreme heat forecasted.

Heat index values could soar to 110 degrees to 115 degrees today and Friday, which is rare and dangerous.

The parade, “America 250th All County Parade,” was set to take place in Middletown on Saturday, but the celebration will now happen on Labor Day.

“The health and safety of the community is our number one priority,” Middletown Mayor Eugene P. Nocera said in a press release. “I am looking forward to September when we will gather for the parade to honor America’s historic 250th anniversary. I wish everyone a safe and happy 4th of July holiday.”
