A dozen people are displaced after an apartment fire in West Hartford on Saturday evening.
Firefighters responded to a reported structure fire in the 900 block of Farmington Avenue around 7:52 p.m.
Once crews arrived, they said they saw alarms and sprinkler systems active with smoke coming from the third floor of a four-story apartment building.
It was reported that a kitchen fire had been successfully contained by the building’s sprinkler system. It was later determined there was no extension of fire to other parts of the building.
According to investigators, the fire damage was contained to the kitchen area of a third floor apartment. The building was smoke and water damaged, they added.
Fire officials said 12 residents are now displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
