Man arrested, accused of sexually assaulting minor near Wilton High School

A man was arrested this week after a minor was allegedly sexually assaulted while jogging near Wilton High School on Sunday, according to police.

Wilton police said officers responded to the high school around 10:55 a.m. on Sunday after receiving a report that a minor had been sexually assaulted while running in the area of Allen’s Meadows, which is next to the school.

Police said the victim reported that a man approached, provided his name, and tried to make conversation before allegedly groping the minor.

The minor was able to run away and seek help from a group of people at the high school, who immediately called the police.

During the investigation, officers spotted a white Toyota Tacoma in the Allen’s Meadows parking lot, but it left shortly after, police said.

Police then went to the residence of the Tacoma’s registered owner, and contacted the owner’s 24-year-old son, who said he had been in the area but denied having contact with the minor, according to police.

Police said the victim later identified him as the person who sexually assaulted them.

The man was arrested and charged with sexual assault in the fourth degree, risk of injury to a child, and breach of peace in the second degree.

The man was released after he posted $3,500 of his $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court at 10 a.m. on July 1.
