Route 153 in Essex remains closed hours after crash

Both sides of Route 153 in Essex remain closed hours after a crash on Tuesday evening.

Transportation officials said the crash happened around 9 p.m. and brought down power lines and poles.

While DOT originally said the crash involved a tractor-trailer, state police Troop F clarified and said it was actually a pick-up truck.

Route 153 is closed in both directions at Mares Hill Road, according to CTRoads. There is no estimate for when the road will reopen.

Drivers are urged to use an alternate route.
