A visiting assistant professor of theater at Connecticut College brought home a Tony Award for “Best Musical” on Sunday for his work on “Schmigadoon!”
Sam Biondolillo, who has been teaching at Connecticut College since 2023, was a part of the musical’s production team.
Biondolillo received his Bachelor of Arts in Theater from Boston College in 2018, moving on to earn his Master of Fine Arts in Lighting Design from the University of Connecticut in 2021.
A spokesperson for the college said Biondolillo also currently works professionally in theater, and is preparing for his first debut with West End as a producer and lighting designer on the musical comedy “Allegra.”
Some of Biondolillo’s past works include off-Broadway productions such as “Greek! The Musical” and “Love + Science,” and events such as The White House Educational Frontiers Conference hosted by former President Barack Obama, according to his bio on Connecticut College’s site.
