A young goat who was trapped in a utility trailer in Thompson over the weekend is now safe, thanks to some firefighters.
Firefighters were called around 9:11 p.m. Sunday after concerned caretakers noticed the young goat firmly wedged within the steel framework of a utility trailer.
Caretakers reportedly tried to free the animal multiple times. Witnesses said it appeared the goat’s horns had somehow grown during the ordeal and that made escape increasingly difficult, according to fire officials.
Fire crews assessed the situation and decided to remove a section of steel angle iron from the trailer to safely free the goat.
“The goat was humbled and thankful but would not answer any questions on why she thought it was a good idea to stick her head in there in the first place and had few words other than the occasional meeehh and baaaaa….,” fire officials said about the goat in a Facebook post.
Once freed, the goat resumed normal activities and is reportedly doing well.
No injuries were reported.
