A shelter-in-place has been ordered for part of Middletown as police investigate a shooting.
Police said the order is for East Street, Westlake Drive, Smith Street, Country Club Road, and Atkins Street.
Police said a shooting happened Tuesday afternoon, and at this time, investigators believe it was an isolated incident between known parties. No injuries were reported, according to police.
They said an armed suspect may be on foot in the area of the streets listed, leading police to issue the shelter-in-place order out of an abundance of caution, according to officials.
The suspect is described as having long hair and a beard, and was last seen wearing all black.
Residents are urged to stay inside, lock doors, and report any suspicious activity.
Middletown, Cromwell, and state police are investigating.
