Widespread power outage reported in East Haven

The East Haven Fire Department said there is a widespread power outage on Monday afternoon.

According to the department, the outage led to multiple fire alarms and at least one transformer fire on Main Street.

An outage map from United Illuminating showed 1,739 in East Haven and 1,147 in New Haven without power around 6:15 p.m.

At this time, it’s unknown what caused the power outage. East Haven fire officials said restoration time could take until 9 p.m.
