Teen dead, several other people injured in Waterbury crash

A teenager has died and several other people are injured after a two-car crash in Waterbury early Sunday morning.

Officers responded to a crash on Chase Avenue around 1 a.m.

Investigators said a Subaru Legacy with two passengers and a Mazda 3I with two passengers collided.

One of the people in the Mazda, later identified as 18-year-old Luis Cisneros Fletes, of Waterbury, died from his injuries.

Police said the driver of the Mazda is in critical condition with life-threatening injuries and the other passenger in the Mazda is in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver and two passengers in the Subaru were transported to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The crash is under investigation by the department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit. Anyone with information can call the CRU at (203) 346-3975 or tips can be called in anonymously at (203) 755-1234.
