Multiple injuries suffered after six-car crash in Branford
Multiple people suffered injuries after a six-car crash on I-95 Southbound in Branford on Saturday.
Emergency crews responded to I-95 Southbound between Exits 56 and 55 for a crash involving six vehicles and six patients.
A vehicle hit stopped traffic while at a high rate of speed, causing the chain-reaction crash according to the Branford Fire Department.
Six people were transported to the hospital, with two reported to have serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The Southbound side was closed for about 45 minutes while crews responded, but the highway has since reopened.
While responding to the scene, a fire captain sustained a bite from a dog involved in the crash. The injury did not appear to be serious, and the captain continued to work before being transported to the hospital for evaluation.
The dog also suffered serious injuries from the crash and was transported to Cosgrove Animal Shelter for treatment.
