Residents of two of the five buildings at the Concierge Apartments in Rocky Hill have moved back in after a winter storm and frigid temperatures created several problems at the complex.
However, a representative for JRK Property Holdings, which owns the complex, told NBC Connecticut through a statement that residents of the remaining three buildings could wait as long as a month.
The representative said residents of Building B could return as soon as Wednesday, but residents in Building C won’t be able to return until Feb. 27. Residents of Building A will have to wait until March 6.
“We are working with our contractors to find a way to expedite the restoration timeline as our primary focus is getting our residents back into their homes as early as possible,” said the representative.
Concierge says “sub-zero” temperatures on Feb. 7 and 8 had “hampered” its original repair efforts.
“At the moment I am looking for another place, but you know, let’s see what happens,” said resident Gloria Mille, who is currently living at a hotel.
The mayor confirmed that the Department of Labor found several contracting companies in violation of paperwork and said there was no electrician or plumber on site. This has been resolved, but work was briefly halted, according to an email NBC Connecticut obtained that was sent to residents.
“People just want to know when they’re going to be able to come back in,” said Mayor Allan Smith.
Smith says JRK Property Holdings has been in contact with the city and state and has promised to work with residents who want to break their lease.
“They’re working on, this is their quote, a significant financial package for anybody that wants to stay, and they’re working on another resolution for anyone that wants to leave,” Smith said.
He says more details will come out sometime this week.
