Woman arrested in connection with 2024 death of man in Waterbury
A 19-year-old woman was arrested in Pennsylvania and served a warrant in Waterbury on Friday for her alleged involvement in a deadly shooting in Waterbury in 2024.
Desire Aitken, who was 17 at the time, was charged with murder, robbery in the first degree, illegal discharge of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, and assault in the first degree – discharge of a firearm.
On Jan. 30, 2024, 38-year-old Keno Williams, of Waterbury, was found with a gunshot wound to the back of his head when police responded to the parking lot of Bertie’s Restaurant on North Main Street to investigate a crash. He later died at the hospital, police said.
Police said they were searching for Aitken in July 2025.
Aitken was found by police in Pennsylvania on April 10 of this year and extradited and transported back to the Waterbury Police Department on Friday, where her warrant was served, according to police.
The two-year apprehension investigation involved the Waterbury Police Criminal Investigation Bureau, Waterbury Police Fugitive Task Force, and US Marshal Task Force, police said.
She is being held on a $2 million bond.
