
A shelter-in-place was issued on Paddock Avenue and Barr Road in Meriden on Tuesday morning after crews working near Route 15 hit a gas line, according to fire officials.
Crews hit the underground gas line during an excavation operation for the Department of Transportation’s three-highway interchange project on I-691, I-91, and Route 15 in Meriden. Work on the project stopped after the incident, DOT said.
Fire officials say the incident occurred around 2:32 a.m., and a shelter-in-place was issued to keep people away from the area. Eversource was on the scene, according to DOT.
The shelter-in-place was lifted around 5:27 a.m., according to the assistant fire chief for the Meriden Fire Department.
No injuries were reported during this incident.
