
A Waterbury man is facing numerous charges following a home robbery, New Britain police said.
Officers were called to a home in the area of Vance Street and Winthrop Street around 1 a.m. on the report of a robbery and shots fired.
According to an initial investigation, the attempted home invasion happened after the residents returned home. Police said that during the incident, shots were fired, but at this point in the investigation, it’s unknown who fired the gun or what weapons were involved.
Shortly after the incident, a man arrived at St. Mary’s Hospital suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to police.
Police did obtain an arrest warrant for 22-year-old Zakai Santos in connection with the incident. He was charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, third-degree larceny, third-degree conspiracy to commit larceny, risk of injury to a child, and conspiracy to commit risk of injury to a child. New Britain officials did not say if he was in custody at this time.
New Britain investigators said they believe it to be an isolated incident and that there’s no ongoing threat to the neighborhood.
