
New London police say they made an arrest after investigating a shooting that occurred Saturday evening on Wall and Summer Streets.
They say officers received reports of a shooting incident that occurred at a home in the area where they found an adult female suffering from a gunshot wound on her lower extremity.
Police say the shooting was not a random act and the victim was taken to a local hospital.
They took the suspect into custody and identified them as 51-year-old Mildred Negron of Norwich.
She has been charged with first-degree assault, criminal use of a firearm and discharge of a firearm, risk of injury to a child, home invasion, illegal discharge of a firearm, interfering with an emergency call and carrying a pistol without a permit.
Negron is being held on a $1,000,000 surety bond.
