A 29-year-old man was arrested on Monday in connection with a non-fatal shooting that occurred in New Haven on Friday.
The New Haven Police Department determined that Xavion Battle was responsible for shooting a woman at an apartment on Howard Avenue during an argument while he was intoxicated.
Officers were called to the apartment for a wellness check when the woman was reported to be bleeding from her arm, according to police. She was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital for her injury, which was determined to be a gunshot wound, police said.
Detectives from New Haven’s Major Crimes and Special Victims Unit obtained a search warrant and found two firearms in Battle’s possession, which brought them to the conclusion that he was responsible.
Battle was charged with assault in the first degree, reckless endangerment in the second degree, possession of a high-capacity magazine, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and risk of injury to a minor. He is being held on a $750,000 bond.
