
A man is facing multiple charges after Hartford police say he fled on foot during a stolen vehicle investigation and was found with a loaded firearm.
According to police, 22-year-old Marquees Rodriguez was wanted for outstanding arrest warrants for escape and car break incidents.
Members of the Greater Hartford Regional Auto Theft Task force were able to identify Rodriguez and connect him to multiple motor thefts.
Detectives say they located a stolen Honda Accord they believe he was driving in the area of Humphrey Street.
When officers moved in on the car, Rodriguez fled on foot toward another stolen vehicle parked nearby where police say they took him into custody after a brief pursuit.
Rodriguez was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, larceny in the second degree, use of a motor vehicle without owner’s permission, criminal possession of a firearm, weapons in a motor vehicle, theft of a firearm and interfering with police.
Police say they recovered a loaded handgun on scene, a stolen 2014 Honda Accord in Granby and a stolen 2018 Acura ILX in Meriden.
