A 25-year-old man is charged with kidnapping two children in Norwich on Sunday.
Police responded to a report of a woman yelling for help near Otis Street around 6:20 p.m. When they arrived, they found the woman, who told the officers that Jonathan Driscoll had taken two of her children after assaulting her. Driscoll is the father of one of the children, but has no association with the other child, police said.
Investigators determined Driscoll was drunk, and made several threats regarding the safety of the children, according to police. He also told officers he had a gun.
Officers attempted to pull Driscoll over, but he took off, police said.
Police were able to make contact with Driscoll and negotiated with him. They were eventally able to get the children and return them to their mother.
Driscoll was taken into custody and charged with first-degree kidnapping with a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree assault, two counts of risk of injury to a minor, second-degree threatening, second-degree breach of peace, interfering with an officer, and reckless driving.
He was held on $200,000 bond.
