Executive branch state office buildings closed Monday due to blizzard

Gov. Ned Lamont ordered all State of Connecticut executive branch office buildings closed to the public on Monday due to the impending blizzard.

The governor’s directive applies only to executive branch state offices. Legislative and judicial branch office closures are at the discretion of the leaders of those branches, according to the governor’s office.

In addition to the closures, the governor has also made some changes to schedules for state employees.

All Level 1 executive branch state employees should report to work as scheduled. Level 1 employees are those who have been designated as “essential” due to their job duties.

Level 2 employees who are scheduled to work in-person should stay home, but are requested to work from home, though they aren’t required to do so. Level 2 employees who were already scheduled to work from home should do so, or use accrued days off.

“This is an intense storm and it is expected to continue throughout Monday morning and into the afternoon before finally tapering off,” Gov. Lamont said in a statement. “I am urging everyone who does not need to be on the roads to avoid all unnecessary, non-essential travel and do their best to stay home and stay safe.”
