
The person shot by a Meriden police officer over the weekend has died, according to police.
Officers responded to a home on Sagamore Road around 10 a.m. on Sunday after they received reports of an active domestic violence situation involving some type of weapon.
When they got to the scene, officers saw a male violently striking a victim in the head with a baseball bat. The victim sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead.
During the encounter with the suspect, an officer shot the suspect with the bat.
The suspect was taken to the hospital for treatment. He later died, police said.
Police have not released that person’s identity.
The Office of the Inspector General and the Connecticut State Police are investigating this case.
