Wintry mix will cause slick spots in parts of the state Friday

A winter weather advisory will go into effect today at 10 a.m. through the evening as light snow and ice are expected in northern Connecticut.

Precipitation will develop around 9 a.m. and continue past noon, moving from west to east.

It will be a wintry mix of snow and mostly ice, with an icy mix expected in northern Connecticut and a rainy mix for the southern parts.

Travel this afternoon and evening will be challenging.

Snow showers will continue on Saturday. More snow is possible on Sunday night into Monday.
