Prospect Fire Department officials say they were dispatched to a home around 2:20 a.m. where they found a two-story residence with heavy fire.
“Firefighters initiated an interior attack in an effort to save the structure. However, due to the volume of fire and a partial roof collapse, conditions rapidly deteriorated and operations transitioned to a defensive exterior attack,” they said.
According to officials, there no fire hydrants in the area and a rural water supply operation had to be established.
Cheshire Fire Department, Bethany Volunteer Fire Department, Naugatuck Fire Department, Wolcott Volunteer Fire Department and Beason Hose Co. No. 1 were on scene for mutual aid.
That is all the information at this time and the fire is still being investigated.
