Injuries reported after crash involving van, school bus in Vernon

Several injuries were reported after a crash involving a work van and a small school bus in Vernon.

Police said the crash happened just after 3:30 p.m. on Route 83 (Talcottville Road) at Pleasantview Drive.

When first responders arrived at the scene, they found the bus and the van with heavy front-end damage. Five out of the six elementary school students on board the bus had minor injuries, as well as the school bus driver and the driver of the van.

The students were taken to the hospital for their injuries, according to police, but all were reported as non-life-threatening.

Route 83 was closed briefly. The bus was carrying students from Skinner Road School.
